I brought the car in for inspection on the 20th. On the 24th the power steering quit working at low RPM's. I took it back to ELM to be looked at on the 25th. They fixed it on the 25th-26th. The dealer did a excellent job as always. My question is why can't GM build a power steering pump that will last more than 50,000 miles, then you bury it so you have to remove the whole front end to change it? GM covered the parts which was OK, but I paid $600.00 in labor. This is not acceptable. This is the second major problem we have had with this car. The thing would not shift right at about 35,000 miles and they had it a couple of days to fix it. I am a engineer and a VP of a manufacturing company. In todays world when customers pay 35-40K for a vehicle, they expect they are not going to have major issues like this until the 100,000 mile mark. I have a 2008 Silverado bought new as well. The truck is ready to be swapped and the Traverse will be in the next 6-8 months. GM has went to the bottom of the list (behind the Japenese as well) as a result of these issues and the extra cost. If this is not the forum to voice my displeasure with the car let me know who I can complain to.
